Thank you from Betsy Boggia

This will be my last HPAI e-newsletter as Project Coordinator, and I want to take a moment to say how much I have enjoyed working with all of the Partners, Collaborators, and volunteers of HPAI this past year. This is an ambitious organization that has accomplished so much in such a short time, and is full of enthusiasm and energy to do even more! I am confident as I move on that HPAI will continue to be successful in raising awareness and support for the arts in Hyde Park, collaborating with businesses to achieve mutual growth, and getting Hyde Park branded as a cultural destination. Thank you all again for the opportunity to be a part of your success!

Sincerely, Betsy Boggia

The First Annual Taste of Hyde Park!

Local community group 02136, All Things Hyde Park, and the Southwest Boston Community Development Corporation have collaborated to present the 1st Annual Taste of Hyde Park event! The tour will begin at the Hyde Park Branch Library at 2 p.m. on Saturday April 28th where Rena and Osmani Rodriguez will be giving a short concert. Two City View Trolleys will arrive shortly before 3 p.m. to whisk attendees on a grand tour of Hyde Park, with stops at various famous and infamous establishments along the way. At each stop guests will be treated to wonderful food, beverages and product samples and entertained by jazz bands, opera singers and Irish dancers, to name a few! Stops include Serino's Italian Food Store, Ron‚s Gourmet Ice Cream, Albert Winestein's, BC Bakery, Richard's Liquors, and more! Throughout the tour celebrity emcees will regale guests with community history and trivia games. The last stop will be the newly opened Donovan's Restaurant, where guests will enjoy a buffet dinner.

Community leaders were interested in looking for ways to promote Hyde Park and all that it has to offer. The one-year-old 02136 community group, who did a fabulous job cleaning up Logan Square for last year's Artscene Festival, worked with the SWBCDC to design an event that would highlight local businesses, as well as the history and relevance of Hyde Park. Interest is building for the event, and tickets are going fast!

"Hyde Park has so much to offer, and we were interested in finding a way to promote the hidden treasures of our community, and generate interest in what‚s going on around town among both old and new Hyde Park residents" says one of the event organizers, Pat Tierney. With two trolleys reserved, there are about 80 seats total, and organizers urge anyone interested in participating to get their tickets fast! Tickets are $25.00 for the tour only, and $40 for the tour and buffet dinner at Donovan's. (Actual tour begins at 3 p.m. from the Hyde Park Library, pre-tour concert at 2 p.m. is optional). To reserve your tickets please call 617-364-7300, e-mail tasteofhp@rcn.com, or visit http://journal.rcn.net/02136.org
