The Hyde Park Arts Initiative is a unique coalition of artists, non-profits, businesses and individuals that organize and support several cultural events in Hyde Park annually, including the summer Artscene Festival and Open Studios. HPAI’s goal is to promote the growing arts community in Hyde Park and utilize arts and cultural events to enhance the business center of Hyde Park, Cleary/Logan Square. A small non-profit, HPAI had success securing grants in 2006 to expand and enhance its operations and is currently seeking a part-time intern for the summer to assist with general operations, event organization, and community outreach. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in arts management to work with a growing organization that has received favorable recognition in the non-profit community for its original approach to supporting the arts and economy of Hyde Park. The intern would work with the Project Coordinator and assist with tasks related to the organization, promotion, implementation and follow up for three annual events: the Arts/Business Kick-Off (fundraiser), the Artscene Festival, and the annual Open Studios event. In addition, general support related to the production of a monthly e-newsletter, website updates, and a print calendar of events would be included. A small stipend is included.
